Text book: English Grammar in Use Murphy, R. (2004) . English Grammar in Use. Singapore: Cambridge University Press Based on website exploration, our group learned from : http://bogglesworldesl.com/glossary/structuralsyllabus.htm that a structural syllabus is:

 “A syllabus in which grammatical structures form the central organizing feature. A structural syllabus proceeds from simple grammatical   structure to more complex grammatical structure. “

Murphy’s (2004) “English Grammar in Use” fits this definition of structural syllabus, therefore our group decide that this text book is developed based on structural syllabus.

Ellis (1993) on his article at TESOL Quarterly Vol 27 (1) entitled  “The Structural Syllabus and Second Language Acquisition”  mentioned that

 “ A structural syllabus consists of a list of grammatical   items, usually arranged  in the order in which they were   to be taught (p.91)”

Ellis’ (1993) description on how structural syllabus is organized fits the way Murphy (2004) organizes the materials in the textbook. The textbook starts with……………………………..
